By the latest report, Facebook’s first quarter earnings count $3.54 billion in revenue, which is less than expected, compared to the companies predictions of $3.56 billion. But not all is bad news for this popular social network, stats show an improval in the engagement department. Data shows there are 1.44 billion monthly active users, which is 1 billion more than what the stats predicted. One more positive data for Facebook is the total figure of mobile monthly users – 1.25 billion, up 24% year over year. Facebook has pointed out that this year will be a year of investment and new businesses opportunities. Investors will surely be paying close attention to all that spending and the impact it will have on the companies profit, especially if revenue growth starts to slow.
This year will be the “prime time for social video”, according to eMarketer’s study, and its evaluations are that video ad revenue will grow to $7.7 billion in 2015, with year-over-year increase over 13.9% in 2018. This expansion may come from few factors, besides the popularity of video, one of them are new social video advertising solutions and the fact consumers love sharing content and interacting with each other on social media. The evidence of this is the latest Facebook report that shows users share 75% more videos on this platform than they did at this time last year, and US Facebook users share 94% more videos than they did in the same time period.
According to the ShareThis news report, Facebook overtook Pinterest, Twitter, and Reddit in terms of social sharing activity during the 4Q of last year, gaining the amazing 81% of shares. ShareThis, which study analyzed sharing behavior of more than 2 million U.S. consumers, found that during the fourth quarter of last year, the percentage of social shares that came from Facebook rose 8.2 percent compared to the last January’s results. Unlike Facebook, sharing activity on Twitter declined 3 percent, and on Pinterest 0.6 percent.
Stats show that over the past year people are uploading and watching videos on Facebook more than ever, the exact figure is 75% more than a year ago. This is becoming a tradition, especially in U.S. where people are posting 94% more social sharing videos to the social network. One more interesting fact – the number of videos in people’s news feeds has increased by 360%, when we take in consideration last year’s results.
